Karen Koch

Collage with paper, acrylic, paint, and ink
36 in x 24 in
$1500

Karen Koch relies on her love of nature and memories of days gone by for inspiration for her art. Believing that being grounded in our past helps us grow toward our future, her recent work explores the universal questions of where we have been and where are we going. She majored in Studio Art and English Literature at Denison University. After graduating, she worked at art galleries and continued painting for several years. When she took a job in another field, she stopped painting for more than a decade. When she began painting again, she began with abstract acrylics then added bits of collage. Her favorite materials – paper, books, maps, paint – appear in almost every artwork. Maps are wonderful reminders of childhood road trips and the promise of grand adventures. Thread, buttons, and stitching are a nod to childhood evenings spent embroidering with her mother and days as a seamstress in college. The result are colorful artworks rich in texture and personal associations. Today, Karen is a full-time artist with a studio in Hudson, Ohio. As part of her mission to foster art in the community, she teaches art classes, is active in local arts organizations, and is a board member of a Hudson business group.

Linda Nye
Bernadette
Watercolor

$900

I’m a painter and a sculptor. I paint in both acrylic and in oil and fabricate metal sculpture. Making art has been my passion since I was a child. My head is full of images waiting to be expressed. Most of my ideas come through meditative sketching. I was inspired by a mother who loved drawing, painting, dressmaking and needlework. I witnessed, absorbed, and practiced each technique. My passion for creating art led me to obtain a master’s degree in art education and become a high school art teacher. I now work as a full-time artist.

Peter Schnitter
At the Roadhouse
Acrylic
18 in x 24 in
NFS

I took Commercial Art and Advertising at a trade school. While there I did a few shows that showed me just how amateurish my work really was. So, I went in search of a career and my art became a hobby. I started doing portraits in the mid 90s. Eventually I realized that I wanted my work to capture a moment in time. I try to paint characters in the midst of living, that my viewer can relate to and that encourage the viewer to create the before and after themselves. To write their own story. Interactive art. Peg’s gave me my only show since college. I am so honored to be invited back in this magnificent new setting. PS. It worked. The painting to impress the girl thing. We dated for a year and a half, which is like a lifetime in teen years!

Richard Vaux
Solar Concerto
Acrylic on Vinyl
30 in x 30 in

My work is an ongoing process, one of composition leading to the next. In searching for the harmonies and balances of nature, the works parallel and emulate natural phenomena.
