Linda Nye

Linda Nye’s love of historic architecture, seaports, and the natural surroundings of the ocean evolved as she grew up in the Tidewater area of Virginia with all its rich history. At the early age of five, Linda was inspired by the carvings from the ships’ bows and the seascape paintings at the Mariner’s Museum in Newport News, Virginia. She developed a natural skill for drawing at an early age and her enthusiasm to grasp new techniques is a never-ending journey. 

Linda’s paintings recreate a moment of personal emotion. Her paintings’ most common medium is watercolor because of the expressive use of color and light, which she describes as “poetry in color”. “I want to portray a place for reflection and release, away from everyday troubles, a place of comfort and peace.”
