Shannon Casey
Shannon creates figurative paintings that tell a story. Much of her inspiration comes from the stars, imaging Copernicus in a star-chart sweater, a procession of constellations, and Icarus and Daedalus on a lonely night flight. The night sky never fails to inspire her; her current series of paintings reflects some of the individual stories of the heavens as drawn from mythology, the Bible and imagination.

After years in advertising, Shannon Casey now tells her stories in oil and charcoal. She studied Journalism and Studio Art at Kent State University and portrait painting with Joseph Cintron at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Her work has been included in many local exhibitions and juried shows in Northeast Ohio.

Denise Daugherty
Denise Hart Daugherty has been an artist much of her life, receiving a Scholastic Magazine Award in High School and also having a full-page painting published in “Seventeen” magazine. She studied oil painting for 3 years at Oglebay Art Institute, Wheeling, W.V., then continued at Kent State Universtiy.  Her love of watercolors began when she took her first class from Lowell Ellsworth Smith, AWS.

Her work has been included in many juried shows, including Ohio Watercolor Exhibit, Canton Art Museum, WATERCOLOR WEST XIV, Ca., Wasmer Gallery – Ursuline College, Kaleidoscope 2005-2007-2011, and Summit Artspace Exhibit 2012. She is past President of Hudson Society of Artists.

Kathleen Harrington was born and educated in New York City, but has lived and painted in many cities throughout the United States. She has studied oil painting while in Atlanta and egg tempera while in Buffalo. With her move to Ohio in 1981 she focused on watercolor, mixed media and collage.

She has said. “In each new painting I draw from my previous works, my education, and a great deal from my personal experience of the natural world. The landscapes of the Midwest, especially the Cuyahoga Valley, have become the inspiration for much of my work.”

Over the years she has shown her work and been awarded prizes locally, as well as in New Zealand and France. Her work has been selected for publication in the Somerset Studio magazine Gallery.

Her career as an artist and art teacher spans over 4 decades and includes work experience in a variety of media and content in both public and private schools. She currently serves as a member of the faculty at Virginia Marti College of Art and Design in Lakewood, and also teaches painting classes at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center in Cuyahoga Falls.

For about 20 years she drew houses from blueprints for Prestige Homes. Lucy is a past president of the Hudson Society of Artists.

Karen Koch
Karen is a visual artist who works with bold colors that give her paintings a bright, cheerful feel. She is inspired by simple things: the change of seasons, the color of the sky, or the flowers blooming in a yard. She delights in them, turning the images into small abstract paintings. She focuses on painting and drawing with acrylic paints, inks, and watercolor, with added elements of collage and stitching. Karen studied studio art and majored in drawing at Denison University.

Judy Pinckard
Judy started painting in watercolor after retiring because of a little push from her husband. After college she was a lettering artist, and later on did catalogs for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City.  Upon moving to Ohio, she did freelance lettering for American Greetings. When she began painting years later, she fell in love with what happens when paint, water, and paper come together: she loves the surprises!  Various awards have been presented including the first place watercolor prize at The Fairmont Center for the Arts.

Barbara Zohn
Barbara’s interest in oriental sumi painting began during private studies with Mitsuko Sakata, who taught this delicate art form. She continued into traditional watercolor and prefers to paint en plein air. From using rice papers during sumi painting, Barbara developed her own unique style by applying watercolor to wet, crinkled rice paper and created a more impressionistic style of painting.  She teaches workshops in this crinkle style.

Her recent interest in acrylic painting has brought her a new enthusiasm.  Changing mediums adds new challenges and a different viewpoint.

Barbara’s paintings hang in private and public collections across the country and have won numerous awards. Her memberships include the Whiskey Painters of America; Hudson Society of Artists; Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and she is a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society.

Evelyn Martindale

Evelyn attended the University of Akron and received a certificate from Applied Art Academy. She also studied with local artists Larry Quackenbush, Lowell Smith, Marc Moon, Jack Richard, and studied extensively with East Coast artists Jack Callahan, Paul Leveille, and Rudy Colao.

Her wide-spread interests involve her in photography and she spends many hours photographing the Amish in Ohio and Pennsylvania. While she has worked with varied subject matter, and in different media, portraits and flowers are her special interest.
