Homecoming

Peg's Gallery

June 11, 2019 — August 13, 2019

Victoria Lewis studied at Oberlin College and received her BFA with Honors in Painting from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2007.

Her most recent work is of contemporary landscapes and portraiture.  Drawing from her experience as an Army wife, her portraits of soldiers returning from deployment are imbued with emotion and sensitivity.  Her work strives to capture the essence of that first reunion using pinks and reds to convey the love, beauty, and relief of that encounter. The skyscapes of paratroopers are painted with active brushstrokes and saturated color-dominated by the blue of the North Carolina sky, meant to give the feeling of airy freedom and exhilarating adrenaline.  Victoria wanted to paint about the separations, reunions, and watching in awe as her Airborne Ranger had his “knees in the breeze”.

Victoria has been painting commissions for the last 12 years and her work is collected and enjoyed nationally.  Her studio is in Avon Lake where she lives with her husband and two children.
