SUMMARY:Texture & Repetition: Stencils are OK
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Micah Kraus for a hands-on workshop exploring texture\, repetition\, and layering through stencil-based mark making.\nApproaching creativity through the lens of a printmaker\, Kraus’s practice centers on process\, iteration\, and experimentation—often combining analog and digital tools while allowing words\, phrases\, and visual elements to evolve through repetition and inversion. \nDuring this session\, Kraus will combine a process demonstration with a conversation about the artwork currently on view at Peg’s Gallery. Participants will experiment with stencils created by the artist using a variety of mark-making techniques\, exploring the possibilities of texture\, repetition\, and layered imagery. \nAs the workshop unfolds\, Kraus will share insights into his creative process and discuss the work on view\, inviting questions and conversation throughout. This playful and exploratory experience highlights the importance of observation and reaction as ideas develop\, offering participants a chance to see how artistic process and visual expression connect. \nAll events are free and open to the public.\nNo registration necessary.

SUMMARY:Campus Wide Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Peg’s invites the community to a campus-wide reception celebrating the opening of two new exhibits Friday\, May 15\, 2026\, from 5–7 PM.  \n25 Years of Impact traces the evolution of a vision first imagined by Peg Morgan and carried forward by those who believe in the power of giving to change lives. Through stories\, images\, and artifacts from the foundation’s history\, the exhibit highlights landmark initiatives\, partnerships\, and the people whose work has expanded access to care\, deepened cultural engagement\, and inspired hope. Visitors are invited to reflect on the enduring impact of philanthropy and to imagine what the next 25 years might hold for a community shaped by generosity and purpose.  \nOpening concurrently\, Eighty-Six Reasons for Asylum Admission: A Domestic Beginning\, a solo show by Ohio porcelain artist Kimberly Chapman\, explores why women were institutionalized in asylums from the mid-nineteenth century through the 1970s. The exhibit confronts the gendered and unequal treatment of these spaces. Constructed in 1825—just decades before the rise of organized feminism—the Baldwin Buss Merino House stands at the threshold of a period when women’s autonomy was tightly controlled\, conditions that could later justify institutionalization. \nVisitors are encouraged to explore the galleries\, connect with artists and program partners\, and reflect on the stories and ideas presented in both exhibits. The evening will include live music\, thoughtful remarks\, and light refreshments.  \nThis event is free and open to the public. \nFree parking is available on city streets and lots throughout the walkable downtown neighborhood of Hudson\, Ohio.
