INSIDE THE ARTIST’S STUDIO: Toil and Technique
April 10 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us for an insightful dialogue featuring Mark Keffer and Casey Vogt, the artists behind the current exhibition, Toil. This conversation will explore the themes and creative processes that inform their powerful paintings, currently on view in the gallery.
Toil invites viewers into a contemplative space where ambiguity and mystery transcend boundaries of time and place. With an emphasis on laborious, hand-marked patterns, the show delves into the dynamic tension between reality and illusion, memory and fantasy. Geometric forms and symbolic circuitry create an intricate web of thought, while vivid colors and carefully chosen materials spark moments of joy within the uncertainty.
Mark and Casey, both 2023 recipients of Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence awards, will discuss their works in depth, touching on their inspirations, techniques, and how they engage with the exhibition’s themes of history, abstraction, and the unknown.
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from the artists, gain a deeper understanding of their artistic journeys, and ask questions about their practice and vision.
